What is DiffShot?
DiffShot is a macOS utility suite with four tools in one app: Picture Comparison, Folder Diff, Duplicate Finder, and App Cleaner. Open the tool you need, drop in images, folders, or archives, and review what changed or what can be cleaned up.
Which macOS versions are supported?
DiffShot runs on macOS 14 (Sonoma) and later, on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
Is this a subscription?
No. DiffShot Pro is a one-time purchase with a lifetime license. You pay once and it is yours, including every update to version 1.
Is there a trial?
Yes. Every device gets a 6-day full Pro trial with all features unlocked, no account required. When the trial ends you can keep using the free tools or buy a license.
What is free and what needs Pro?
Core comparison and scanning are free, including side-by-side image review and folder, duplicate, and app scanning. Pro unlocks the diff overlay and onion-skin tools, annotate and export, folder sync and export, deleting duplicates, and the orphaned leftover scan and cleanup actions.
How do I activate my license?
After checkout your license key is emailed to you. Paste it into DiffShot under Settings and it activates instantly. If you lose the key you can have it resent.
Can I use it on more than one Mac?
Your license activates one Mac at a time, and you can move it between machines. It also keeps working offline for a grace period so you are not locked out without a connection.
Is my data private?
Yes. All file comparison, duplicate analysis, and cleanup planning stay on your Mac. Nothing is sent to an external server during normal feature use. Permissions only control what DiffShot may read or modify on your machine.
What files can it handle?
Images including PNG, JPEG, TIFF, HEIC, WebP, AVIF, RAW, and PSD, whole folders, and archives such as zip, tar, and gzip. Audio and video are supported for duplicate detection, and text files can be compared line by line.
How do updates work?
DiffShot updates itself. Use Check for Updates in the app and it pulls the latest version directly. Every version 1 update is included with your license.
