Privacy Policy

Overview
DiffShot runs entirely on your Mac. It does not track how you use it, and it never uploads the files you compare, scan, or clean up. The only data that leaves your machine is what is needed to validate a licence.
What we collect
A randomly generated device identifier, created locally, so a licence can be activated and a trial can be tracked on that device. If you email us for support, we keep that correspondence. If you buy a licence, our payment provider records the purchase.
What we do not collect
We do not collect usage analytics, file names, file contents, screenshots, behavioural tracking, advertising identifiers, or any record of what you scanned or deleted. DiffShot has no account system.
How we use it
The device identifier is used only to start your trial, activate your licence, and let you move that licence between your own machines. Your email is used only to send your licence key and reply to support.
Payments
Checkout is handled by Dodo Payments. They process your payment details; we never see or store your card information. Your licence key is delivered by email after purchase.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share data only with the payment provider needed to complete a purchase, or where the law requires it.
Retention
Device and licence records are kept for as long as the licence is valid. Support emails are kept for as long as they are useful for helping you.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing contact@dunebits.com.
Permissions on your Mac
DiffShot may ask for Full Disk Access so it can scan the folders you point it at. That permission controls only what the app may read or modify locally. It does not send anything anywhere.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update the effective date above.
