Haul extension not showing in Firefox?
Haul catches your downloads through Haul Browser Integration, a free add-on on Firefox Add-ons. If you can't see it in Firefox, go through these steps.
1. Add it from Firefox Add-ons
Open Haul Browser Integration on Firefox Add-ons, click Add to Firefox, then Add. You can also get there from Haul: Options → Browser Integration → Add to Firefox.
2. Check that it is turned on
Type about:addons into the address bar and press Enter (or open Firefox's menu ☰ → Add-ons and themes), then choose Extensions.
- Find Haul Browser Integration and make sure its switch is on.
- If it isn't in the list at all, it was removed: add it again (step 1).
3. Pin it to the toolbar
Firefox keeps new add-ons behind the Extensions button (the puzzle piece) in the toolbar. Click it, click the gear next to Haul Browser Integration and choose Pin to Toolbar, so Haul's icon stays in the toolbar.
4. Make sure Haul is running
The add-on hands downloads to the Haul app, so Haul has to be installed and running (it waits in the tray). Click Haul's icon in the toolbar: it should say Connected to Haul.
- Says Haul can't be reached? In Haul open Options → Browser Integration, choose Install / Repair, then quit Firefox completely and open it again.
- Don't have Haul yet? Download it here.
5. Private windows
Firefox keeps add-ons out of private windows. To use Haul there, open about:addons, click Haul Browser Integration and set Run in Private Windows to Allow.
Questions
Where do I get the Haul extension for Firefox?
From Firefox Add-ons: search for Haul Browser Integration, or open its page from Haul's Options → Browser Integration → Add to Firefox.
I loaded it earlier from about:debugging. Do I keep that copy?
No. A temporary add-on disappears when Firefox closes. The copy from Firefox Add-ons stays installed and updates itself.
Do I also need the Chrome extension?
Only if you use Chrome or another Chromium browser too. Each browser needs its own copy; Haul works with all of them at once.
Using Chrome, Edge or Brave? See the extension in Chrome. Still stuck? Get help and tell us your browser and what the add-on's popup says.
